exhaust modifications.....??

#1 Unread post by Tigger »

I like undertail exhaust styles. But my bike is a yamaha r6 with the usaul exhaust on the right side. Is it possible to modify to a undertail exhaust? will it change the bikes original perfomance? How much does it cost? will I need new mods to fit the new exhaust under my seat and tail? thanks.

You can do it but the cost may make it less than worthwhile. To get a custom set of pipes made up will cost a small fortune so the best thing to try first up is to see if it is possible to fit the newer subframe (with the undertail exhaust) to your bike and then buy some stock pipes, second hand.

Don't forget that with a new pipe you're probably going to need to either reprogram your EFI, or rejet your carbs.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
