When I got my Yamaha Majesty, (my first ever bike) I was afraid to ride it home. I got a buddy to haul it to the house in his pickup.

A year later, I got my second bike. A BMW K1200LT. I had never ridden a bike with a conventional transmission before, other than one day at the MSF course, and I swore I would NEVER ride one again.

But I did.

I rode around the parking lot at the dealership for about 15 minutes. Then figured "Sooner or later, you're going to have to go out there on the road.", so I screwed up all the courage I had, waited it seemed a week to get a BIG gap in the traffic, and pulled out, went up through the gearbox with no problems. I was shaking like a leaf all the way home.

Then when I went to turn into the driveway I dropped the big beast.

BLOOP

I was sure glad no one was there to see me. Until I realized I had to pick that thing up.

I wasn't sure I'd ever ride it again. That was 5,000 miles ago.

I hear that load and clear! That fear has been replaced with anticipation of the next ride. Although I still struggle with starting on an uphill, but that will come in time.
