wow.has this happened to you? almost crashed 30 mins ago

#1 Unread post by intotherain »

Wow, ok I just had the scariest experience on a motorcycle I have ever had about 30 minutes ago. I went out to walmart so I could purchased the new Moto GP 3 for PC. (great game by the way, you can stunt/race on streets and tracks, choose your bikes and stuff). Anways, I was coming back home but I decided to take the highway because the traffic was intense and I didnt feel like using the clutch too much.

Well anyways, everything went normal until I took the ramp out..

The ramp that goes out is this 280 degree, sharp turn, that has an enbankment. Ive done this turn many times at about 40-50 mph, leaning quite aways.

I dont know why, my bike just wouldnt turn, I dont know if this is because of the cold weather, it was 34 degrees F. So I was going about 45 mph and I started to lean into the curve, but I noticed I was drifiting out on the other side of the curve, then I dont really remember what happened but I turned to get back in route and gave it some throttle then like I have NO idea what happened but my bike wobbled like a am-fm and both my feet were kicked off the pegs and my rear tire skidded then finally to conclude I was thrown up above my seat and landed on my right theigh by my knee and I went straight into the sideroad/dirt, and luckily this happened at the end so it wasnt banked any more... I ran off the road still going about 20 mph and eventually the bike stalled and fell.. The person who was behind me stopped and came out and asked me if i was ok and eventually helped me get the bike back onto the road.. (nice guy).

Yeah so... has this happened to anyone else? scary moment. So ill stick to virtual motorcycling for a while lol on my computer.

Amen to that. In summer tires hold pressure for weeks. In winter I add air almost every time I ride (bikes are in an unheated building.) Check pressure every day you ride.

I would follow their advice and check your tire pressure, and see if anything is stuck in the tire like a nail or anything of that sort. This could explain a perfect ride to walmart, but that scary moment riding back home.

Sounds like you did crash 30 minutes ago if the bike had to be picked up.

Buy a nice gauge (I got one for 20 bucks and keep it in my 'trunk') and check your pressure every time you ride.

This also could just be a case of bad karma from shopping at walmart.... :D

Yeah I'm looking at your location, and it's probably pretty cold in Wisconsin. Well, your tire will change 1 PSI for every 10 degrees of temp change. If you haven't checked it in a while, check it now. Could there have been some sand or gravel on the road too?
