Of course gear is like bikes, it's nice to have a different set for the conditions.
My set up is pretty much the same as storysunfolding and for the same reasons - living in the DC/Baltimore region, summers are HOT and sticky and winters aren't very severe. I've got one "assortment" for cooler weather, and another "assortment" for warmer/hot weather. I've got BMW, Rev'It and Joe Rocket stuff.

The only leather items I own are boots and two pairs of gloves. I like the washability of textile. I've crashed in my textile gear, too. So long as you're buying quality you don't need to fear for your skin.

I wear the same leather jacket all year round, but then I'll wear it even without the Bike.

In summer its the Leather, bike jeans/combats, lightweight gloves, motorcycle boots and my neck protector.

As it gets colder I'll start wearing a fleece under that and then in winter I'll wear a jumper under the fleece and winter weigth gloves. I am considering geting some silk gloves to wear under my winter ones to give me more than an hours range, but to be honest I am rarely out that long in winter.

That said I've worn a Leather for so long I really don't notice. There is a picture of me on a beach in Tunisia wearing my old 'Patrol' Leather and another of me in Orlando wearing my Leather and a fleece on the day we were flying home.

My Aerostich Roadcrafter has seen me through all ranges of weather without complaint. It's nice to have one set of riding gear for triple digit heat, single digit cold, rain, snow any anything in between. You get what you pay for, no doubt.

All my gear is the same for all the seasons except my gloves. Instead of wearing my leather gloves I wear my super heavy duty skiing gloves. Also, instead of wearing a t shirt under my jacket i wear a t-shirt and a long sleeve t shirt, and a thick scarf around my neck.

But I wish I had some warmer jeans... My lower part of my body gets so damn cold after a ride.

I mostly have textile gear. I have a tourmaster intake mesh jacket that I can wear down to about the mid 40F if I wear layers of clothing underneath. I recently bought a Firstgear Hybrid jacket, has both textile and leather. Its warmer, but also has alot of zipper vents all over the place so maybe I can wear it in all but the hottest weather here in the desert. Right now Im wearing joe rocket leather gauntlet gloves, and for summer I have some pilot mesh gloves that stops right before reaching the wrist. The leather gloves and addition of my Tourmaster textile Caliber pants really made it possible for me to ride in the 20-40 degree weather. Its great!
