Harley Designations ? ei FXDWG, FLSTSC ?

#1 Unread post by davetremaine »

I've been looking everywhere for the "definition(s)' of H-Ds model "codes". Can anyone tell me or refer me to a listing? I just purchases a '04 XL1200C. I know what the "C" means, does XL = extended levers? ie. what's a VRSCAW?

Ok, I'm looking at the Dyna's, they all begin with "FX"-what does that mean? Thanks!

I believe the FXD designates the Model and any subsequent letters a More in depth desigmation.

Example-FXD is a Plain Superglide
FXDL is the low rider

FLH-designates the touring class, etc

By this guide, FXD would be a Big Twin with small frame (skinny front tire) and Dyna suspension. In other words, this is a plain Super Glide.

An FXDL would be a Big Twin w/skinny front tire, Dyna suspension, and lowered. A Low Rider.

All of the Dynas start with FXD.

Some of the Softails are FXST (Big Twin, skinny front tire Softail) and the rest are FLST (fat front tire Softail).

The touring bikes are all FLH (Big Twin, fat front tire, heavy suspension)

The Sportsters are all XL.

I always thought FLH meant "F*cking Large Harley", but apparently it doesn't. :)
