you are judged by other riders on the make and type of bike you own and ride, there are girlly bikes, nerd bikes, beginner bikes, scoots. The guy that spent $20K for his bike gets upset, ( and he has a right to be upset ) that some poser on a $5K rice burner rides in the same lane with him or passes him up. Thats an insult! Its like ur rubbing his nose in it. Also, the guy that owns a $20K bike demands respect from the guy that owns the $5K bike.

I hate replying after moto esp because of the lack of truthfulness in his posts.
Anyways I have nothing against any bike rider out there. I look at the fact that not everyone is big enough to ride a HD or small enough to ride a honda rebel type bike. Not everyone can handle the demanding requirements of say a hayabusa. Me I have one goal in mind. I want a Ducati Multistarada someday. You cant imagine how much flack I get because I want a Ducati. Everyone thinks im crazy but you know what I think the multi is the best looking bike out there and thats my opinion. I should say best looking STOCK bike out there lol.
*as a side note I just noticed 1 more post and Ill be in the legendary 750 with moto. Not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing yet lol
Mr ofblong, Im just being very honest! Im honest, that doesn't mean I agree with everything I say! I think its wrong for anybody to think they are better than everybody else cause they own a more expensive bike, but it happens and people do think that way even when I dissagree with it. You see, that guy thinks he can afford or he took a bigger risk paying 4 times more for a bike than you did and he don't wanta feel that he wasted his hard earned money if he sees you passing him on ur cheap rice burner bike, its you guys that are picking on him. I mean he expects and demands respect cause of the bike he owns and he wants you to think that you wish you owned a bike like his. I say, be nice, be friendly, show him some respect.

I don’t know what your reason for riding the bike you ride, but I will tell you mine.
When I 1st started riding, it was on a 50 Honda mini trail. I loved it immediately.
I then purchased a Yamaha 175 Enduro (brand new, $650.00) in 1968, which I rode for a few years. During this time I developed a love of traveling and burnt a whole thru the piston in Sault Ste. Marie.
We started a family and I was only able to purchase inexpensive bikes for many years. These turned out to be well-used Yamaha’s and Honda’s, etc. Loved every minute spent in the saddle.
When I was able I went to the dealer to Purchase a brand new 1100 Shadow, Cost $6,800.00. Looking in the used section I noticed one a couple of years old for $2,900.00.
A quick look on the Harley side and they had a New Sportster for $5,800.00 and a used one 1 year old for $5,700.00. Who would be crazy enough to by the used one.
Return the next day after a long night of thinking, I looked at all of them again except the used Sportster as it was SOLD. The math seemed clear, pay almost 7000 for a Honda which would be work 3000 the following year or....
I rode that Sportster for 2 years and put 78,000 Miles on it with no trouble. I traded it in on another 1989 new FLHS and they gave me $5,600.00 for it.
I have been riding Harley’s since although things are changing as far as them holding their price. The old saying “things are different on a Harley” is true, however I won’t try to explain that here.
So…I love to travel so having a bike that I am laying over the gas tank does not seem to be an option. I know, your thinking I can ride mine for hours. I have talk to many a sport bike rider and most admit it’s not the bike they would cross the country on.
There are people who buy a bike because they got tired of golf, sailing or whatever and they will sell it as soon as something else tickles their fancy. On the other hand, there are those who live it, crave it and riding has become their passion. Those are bikers, and the ones I like to spend my time with.
