I have been toying with the idea of going and getting stock exhaust tubing..2.5" and taking it to a local custom shop that has a mandrel bender and making homemade hellbent pipes..The shop said they would charge me $30 for the bends and the collar welds(bought a stock set of pipes for $20/including shipping from ebay-gotta love ebay..haha)..the ends are going to be cut and welded and then the pipes will be bent. Local powdercoater said she would p/c heat resistant flat black for $20(chrome pipes will blue and gold pretty damn quick, so the flat black will hide it..i might try the glossy black the first time and see how it holds up(will probably look better against eh chrome and candy color). I was then going to get 2 sets of the 6" chrome flame heat shields from jcwhitney basically for looks to stand out against the flat black. Already got a spare ste of 6" baffles. My question is has anybody done this? How does it stand up..the ols schoolers used to do it and some still do and they swear by them and at about $100 im saving me about 500 or 600 clams.
Here is what im going for.. Any comments would be appreciated..
