Where do you shop?
Hi everyone I just wanted to start out by introducing myself. My name is Ben and I've been wanting to get into motorcycling for some time now. I'm signed up for an MSF course at the end of May and hopefully I'll be riding sometime there shortly after.
But I've already started to look around for apparel, mostly to see how much this thing is going to cost me (I'm a full time student). And I've been hearing a lot of names thrown around for stores people shop at for motorcycle apparel but I havent seen any of them in the Boston area.
So question 1: Does anybody know of any shops in Boston (or the greater Boston area) which sells gear and for a decent price?
question 2: where online does everyone shop? Ive checked out newenough.com and bikebandit.com

there's also www.bing.com and www.metricbikes-superstore.com.
I highly recomend NewEnough though. Great prices and the best customer service i've gotten period, not just online.

I've gotten a USD$340+ jacket for $80 from newenough.com. Also a more than 65% discount on some gloves from there too. I've also scored a $17 helmet from bing.com which costed about a little over $100 at full price. Bought overpants and a helmet previous to my last order at the same spot. Although, if you do not know your body's sizes very well, you will have trouble. Motorcycle-superstore.com sometimes has excellent sales too.
But, when given the option... don't cheap out on lower quality protection unless its good quality protection at rock bottom prices thats to good to pass up!
Good Luck. And remember to buy the absolute best armor you can afford. And never leave an inch of skin exposed... when you fall it has a chance of getting road rash, which is never fun.

Re: Where do you shop?
Greater Boston Motorsports in Arlington is usually pretty decently priced compared to online stuff. My rule is $20 for cheaper stuff and 10-15% for more expensive items..meaning if its a pair of $100 gloves online, GBM would need to be more than $120 for me to buy them online. However, they've given me discounts since I'm there regularly, so that's something to keep in mind as well with going to a physical shop vs online.Variablevalve wrote:Hi everyone I just wanted to start out by introducing myself.
