Day one over. Classroom over, and today's exercises ended with a couple of "box" run-throughs. My 6'3" 152lb frame dropped the bike twice. Everything is going fine but that. I was on the verge of tipping one of the instructors $100 to tutor me on it for an hour. I'm going to be pretty pissed off if all of this was for naught because I can't do a figure-eight in some chaulk. Luckily, I must have inadvertently been placed in the special needs class, because only half the class seems to be able to handle it. They just don't suck as spectactularly.
Congrats, man. I'm green with envy.
Just finished MSF....

Dean,
Don't sweat the box. Worry about the other aspects. As long as you don't put your feet down or actually go down, you're likely going to pass. I got 2 points on the box for riding the line but aced the other aspects of the final. First thing I did when I had a nice dry day to ride my new bike, I went to an empty parking lot and starting working on the figure 8 until I felt comfortable with it.
With that said; look way back over your shoulder where you want to go, shift your body position and lean the bike over. You'll get a few more practice shots at it before the exam.
Think positive! You can do it!

Dropping the bike is one error that will fail you for the whole evaluation. That, and 'an intentional unsafe act' - like NOT pulling down your face shield if you don't have on other eye protection.
If you feel you may be about to drop the bike, then give it some gas and go over the boundary, instead. YOU CANNOT FAIL THE EVALUATION ON THE BOX, ALONE.
So long as you do okay in all the other parts, what happens in the box, stays in the box.
