Yet another "born again" rider

#1 Unread post by vanend »

Found this site while looking for a bike last year, have been lurking for some time. I started riding as teenager and rode into my twenties but had a misguided urge to become "responsible" when kids came along, got rid of my bike and only rode occaisionally. I always enjoyed riding so when kids were grown and out of the house I decided I'd get another bike. thought about it a long time, had to convince the wife I wasn't too old, then went looking for the right bike, it found me. Someone in my home town was selling a Ducati ST3 although I was looking for a Japanese bike I couldn't stop thinking about the pic in cycle trader. I went and looked at it and knew immediately I would buy it. that was a year ago and I love it as much now as I did then. I mostly commute to work (50 miles round trip) and joyride on the weekends. After I got the bike I took the MSF course at local community college, I had a good time and learned some things about riding slow. Thanks for reading. Dane

Dane- welcome to the forum. Glad your wife and you decided you weren't "too old" - I started as a complete newb at age 48. I don't think there's such a thing as too old! :D

Welcome!

Be careful commuting on that purty bike o' yourn. I lived in Raleigh for 15 years and -as you undoubtedly know - the drivers there can be crazy! :)

I agree with jstark47,you're never too old!
I started riding at age 52.
I always follow the rules.
The only exception to the rule occurs when I make an exception to the rule not to make an exception to the rule and that only occurs under exceptional circumstances.

Welcome to the forums and back to the ride.
I'm starting a petition to cull narrowminded dull people - be afraid Peter, be very afraid....

Thanks all for making me feel welcome. and you're right about raleigh drivers, they have no concept of what it means to merge and don't know what that thing sticking out of the left side of the steering column is for . . . I'm originally from So Cal so I can cope with anything.
Thanks again
