Went on my first big ride yesterday!

#1 Unread post by NightNurse »

Yesterday, oh my god. My first big ride!!! Scott (boyfriend )and I rode about 80 miles, through gorgeous country rodes. I got to get up to 5th gear, 65mph. It was really exciting.

Then we rode our bikes to a big park called Turners. There was a party/bbq/biker event for Thunder over Louisville (kick off of Derby sort of, TONS of fireworks - actually I think its the largest fireworks show in the US). We had a lot of fun, and of course everyone wanted to see my bike, and were excited to see a chick on a bike .

Our plan was to leave Scotts bike there, and he would ride mine (with me on the back) home. Since I had never ridden in night, and traffic is horendous for this event. I got the guts to just ride my own home. It turned out really well! Riding at night is fun/exciting/and nerve wracking lol.

We are going for a ride in a little bit, the weather is perfect!

I will get some pics soon.

Scott got a video camera, and is mounting it to his motorcycle. Then we can do video's around town :D.

Hey, might just be me, but I'm pretty sure you're missing something on those bikes that'd make it a LOT more comfortable to ride... just my two cents though!
Anyway, glad you had fun, and do some riding for me!

Smart a** ;)! I thought they looked funny being worked on together - had to get a shot!

I know one day I will look back on this and smile. I am thinking I will put a webpage or little book about my adventures in riding together, pics, stories...etc. Would be fun to look back at in years!

We clocked over 100 miles this weekend! I know that isnt much for some of you...but Im proud :D!

100 miles for a new rider is awesome. Glad you had a great weekend and hope you have many many more to come. We did about 100 miles yesterday and it was great. Temps in the low 80s, low humidity. Great time to cruise down to the beach and meet a bunch of new people. Happens every time we go down there.

For the most part yesterday, seemed like I was only able to drive the bike with my right hand. Was so many people out yesterday, spent more time waving than anything else. :D

Keep up the great riding and enjoy every minute you can.

Hey NightNurse. great story. Congrats. sounds like you had a great time. without coming off inappropriate, how's your butt? i ask because i went on my longest ride this weekend too. about 70miles on Sat, and 110miles yesterday (sun). needless to say, my stock seat will soon be replaced.

I had a ball on the rides. especially yesterday on the blue ridge parkway. amazing weather. real nice roads. saw a bunch of bikers on the road. got the biker wave down.

but, yeah, my butt was pretty sore when i got home. calculated 59.5 miles/per gallon too which was pretty sweet. I hope to get a new seat and a sissy bar so my wife can come along. she's itching to ride.
