So I just bought my first bike- 1986 Yamaha Radian and I am very excited of course. I rode it around the block about 3 times and then stalled at a stop sign. Now when I turn the key to ON, the headlight won't turn on and I can't start the bike. I had to walk it back over to my place. Not what I expected of my first ride. The bike only has 5900 miles on it and I was told has had all normal srvce done recently including oil, carbs, sparks, and new tires. I was also told it has a new battery and drove beautifully from the guy's place I bought if from to my place (12 mi).
What's the deal? Is it the battery or is the battery not getting charged?
HELP!!
My bike won't turn on; I just bought it!!

Put it back in neutral and try again. More then likely the kickstand lockout switch is still engaged. It will kill the engine if:
1) you put it in gear with the kickstand down
2) you try to start in gear with the kickstand down
1) you put it in gear with the kickstand down
2) you try to start in gear with the kickstand down
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
