NY motorcycle road test and other questions
NY motorcycle road test and other questions
I was considering about getting a motorcycle and learning how to ride. A couple of questions though.
What should you wear when you're just going to be riding it and not doing any tricks or anything?
What if you don't know anyone who has a motorcycle license to take you to the road test?
If you take a drivers education course on motorcycles would they take you there? Also would they teach you other things about a motorcycle like how to change a tire and how to put the other things into the motorcycle?
Are they hard to ride?
What motorcycle is good to start with?
How much will insurance cost with a brand new sport bike?
I'm under 20 years old will I be able to afford the insurance with only a part job?

Gloves, boots, jacket, full face helmet, pants. The option to zip your pants and jacket together is nice.LINK398 wrote:What should you wear when you're just going to be riding it and not doing any tricks or anything?
Ask, perhaps there's members of the board in your area. What if you don't know anyone who has a motorcycle license to take you to the road test?
Will riders ed courses teach you (the basics on) how to operate a motorcycle? Yes. Will the teach you how to maintain and modify a motorcycle? No, that's it's own profession. If you take a drivers education course on motorcycles would they take you there? No. Are they easy to ride well? Yes.Are they hard to ride?
This topic is beat to death on here. What motorcycle is good to start with?
http://progressive.com does online quotes. Over 2k a year I'd assume. You might be able to afford the payment or the insurance, but probably not both. Add maintnence and $170 rear tires that only last 2500 miles into the mix and you're sunk. How much will insurance cost with a brand new sport bike?

Will be driving it only local though. Am a student. Also when I took the road test for a car some of the cars in line to take the test were drivers education cars. Do some schools take the students to the tests? Could you just go to the road test on the motorcycle and have someone else drive a car and said you road in the car with them? Also would you have to transport the motorcycle there in like a trailer? What's the road test like? Is it someone following you around in a car or something?
