1986 Yamaha Maxim 700 rear turn signal lights dont work

#1 Unread post by Billyray »

I just put a new batt in this bike and I know the bulbs are good but at first I wasnt getting anything from the rear turn signals. The front turn signals stay on when the ignition is on and when I select either L/R turn the headlight and the opposite turn light blinks just a bit. After checking every connection I could find the rear turn lights started working, by some miricle, when the switch was thrown.

Does anyone know if the rear turn lights should stay on like the front lights on this bike? Im trying to figure out if I have a simple problem like one wire loose or is it something worse? :frusty: BTW non of the bulbs look like there 2-way.

Sounds like the classic loose wire. It doesn't work, you fiddle around with it, it suddenly works. You'll probably have to trace the wires from the rear turn signals to find the fault.

Normally, the rear turn lights do not stay on like the front lights. In most cases, the rear indicators use a single filament bulb and the front use a dual filament.
