.... :hellfire:

Blah blah blah it's warm and sunny blah blah blah still don't have the bike legal...

We figured it up and the savings on gas only equal out the insurance and plate after 94 days of riding it to work. That's four months. If I started today, that would be riding it to work every single day from now until mid-September -- rain, cold and daycare needs notwithstanding. If I assume there are days I can't ride it, it means I'd have to ride it into October or November before we're not losing money on it.

And it snows here in October -- September sometimes. Friggin' northern states and short riding seasons. grumble mumble "pee"&moan... :anger:

I wish I could just wave "gas savings" at my wife like a flag, but I can't. We have to pay for my son's birthday next week, then we'll probably do it...she assures me it's still in the plan, that a legal bike isn't ruled out this year.

Whatever, I'm venting...

Nope.

Still not riding. Nope. Nope. Everyone else is, though...and around here they all have $27,000 Harleys, I swear. Passing by bikes on our way into town it was like, "Harley, Harley, HarleyHarleyHarley, Harley, Har-- HONDA! WOW! Harley, Harley harley."

Driving through the vast nothing-land that is Michigan, we were stuck behind a pair of couples sight-seeing on their Harleys, on a main highway...speed, 35 to 45mph, slowing suddenly for no reason. Loud pipes on one of 'em to show off just how badly-tuned the bike was. They weaved back and forth, rode over the white line on the shoulder for long periods, and obviously didn't know any more about riding than "clutch here, brake there, and sign the finance form here."

It's like I'm a kid again...I'm saving up money from fixing computers on the side to get my bike mobile. I'm the father of four, and I've got an after-school...erm, work job for some spending cash. Sad. "Now, son, if you want to buy penny candy and tin whistles, you'll have to save up your allowance." "Gee, okay mom!"

Hi, AZRider's upcoming comment! Yeah, I have to shut up and ride the thing, I get it. :)

Mr. Riker, Make it so!

Maybe...for y'all older folks...

Mr. Chekov...ahead 3/4 impulse!

So, we've just kind of decided that we're not moving this summer, and that means the money we had squirreled away for restarting utilities and etc...

...will get the bike on the road.

Yeah, I'm a bit excited about it. I'll have to get oil and sparkplugs and tune it up a bit. Air filters may be in order, as I removed all the old rotten foam last year, and it only has metal meshes for "filters" in the airbox.

And then I can ride it! It should mark the beginning of the longest recorded streak of rainy days in Michigan history...

Congratulations, Noodle.

Go for it.

Fu-ck you, Mr. Riker! Fu-ck you and the Chekov you rode in on!

:rainyday: :banghead2:

My wife took the minivan to have a little rear brake leak checked out today. It cost $600. The tie rods, front brakes, right axle, and sway bar bushings will cost us ANOTHER $700.

There went the bike.

Fu-cking minivan.

No sense posting around here anymore...I'm not a motorcyclist. I'm a schmuck. I'll lurk when I can stand it.
