Honda RS125 Castrol Race Replica

#1 Unread post by BeyondThePaint »

Here are some pics of a cool little RS125. This former race bike is now dressed up for show, and will live in a trophy case. Its all paint, no decals, all the aluminum has been polished. A really sweet bike.

It was built as a tribute to Colin Edwards by Ga-Carolina Vintage Cycles

Very Nice!

What vintage? looks like late 80s or mid 90s, but the 125s haven't changed much over the years as far as the layout and im not on the ball anymore with the important details... the forks, tank and bodywork, do look very similar to a friends 89RS250, but the tail is newer.

A few local guys here have raced RS and TZ 125 and 250s over the years. Guys in the local mini club take 125 chassis and drop 80cc mx'r motors into the chassis' for the ultimate miniracer, but a 80/85cc mx'r is already a pretty good roadrace bike with some suspension mods. my bud has always tried to get me out there on them, but they're too addictive, and i threw all my money into other crazy things, and i somehow manage to stay away from riding the mini-TZ, or mini-RS as his tastes change. not sure how i manage, year after year :-)

I was lucky enough to club race an '85 RS250 for a couple races and even though that RS had a rough life, and then the crank failed in practice, we stayed up late swapped to another less-used crank and assembled the whole kit and kaboodle. Actually i think i stood around a lot and only helped with the basic engine swap. The engine still sucked the next day, but the chassis and brakes were PHENOMENAL. if only i had video of my first lap, bog of the line, then blast past on the brakes into turn 1.. i've never passed so many bikes in one turn at one time in my entire life before or after. ha. good fun.

For Sale: Ninja 600 with parts bike, needs minor work, $30, no title... (GEE THAT DOESNT RING ANY WARNING BELLS DOES IT?)

I can't tell you much about the bike. I only did the paint and bodywork. It was built by GA-Carolina Vintage Cycles, both as a personal collectable and a show piece for his building (and my painting) talents. The owner doesn't have a web site yet, but if you are ever in Augusta, stop in and visit. He has some cool old bikes, most unrestored, that bring back many memories from the 70's and 80's. First year Gold Wings, Suzuki GT-750, Honda cub, and more.

its a 1994 model, the bodywork is Airtech (tailpiece is from an unknown source) the tank is aluminum

The owner just got back from the Riding Into History bike show in St Augustine Fl. this past weekend. Our little Castrol bike took 1st place in the modern competetion catagory.
