I've broken some bones before but not any ribs. How long do fractured ribs only generally take to heal so you can do basic or light activities, not riding?
I was in a collision and I got a couple of fractured ribs....and then all the muscles in the surrounding areas started tightening up to the point where it hurts like heck.
I am starting treatment now so I hope to fee l some improvement soon.
Thanks for asking.

From day 1 you can go for short walks...and I do mean short....forget about doing up shoe laces for a couple of weeks....and even now at a month it is still difficult.flw wrote:I've broken some bones before but not any ribs. You can do simple things right away if it didn't require bending, lifting, twisting, or lifting your hands up higher than your shoulders.
Simple things like washing dishes were ok because it could be done standing and it wasn't heavy.
It is now a month and I can do simple things so long as I don't lift anything over 5 pounds.
It is supposedly 6 weeks for the bones and then up to 3 months for the rest to feel better.

My chest pains are gone. So that is a major improvement. Now if my shoulder and side would calm down....jonbailey19808 wrote:Well, how did the long weekend go? Blues are you feeling any better?
The weekend was actually ok....for the most part....whiny child in the car on the way up.

Whiny child for most of 2 days.....gawwddd he became a real mama's boy.
On the plus side, my brother barbecued a moose roast one day...very tender and tasty. The graduation ceremony was good and I got to play at my hobby of photography.

Now I have the gargantuan task of sorting and processing the photos on to CD's.
