In a few days I will be leaving on my first long haul trip with my bike. I plan to ride from Seatle, WA to Cheney, WA which if any of you know the area is basically 250 miles of I-90.
I plan on taking it pretty slow since I have yet to really experience any sort of winds at freeway speeds and I'm fairly certain I'm going to be a little scared when they first hit me. My question is, are there any tips you guys have for going on a long trip? What do you carry with you incase something happens, etc. I'll probably be stopping once or twice to fuel since my bike gets about 140-150 miles/tank.
I've been riding for about a month, and am starting to feel pretty comfortable on my bike. My brother is graduating so I figured this would be a great chance for me to get some long hours of highway experience under my belt.

And bottles of water, first aid kits. Nice warm Riding Jacket/Pants and boots. Make sure to plan to stop very often (60-90miles), fill in the gas tank and relief yourself as much as you can lol.
If possible find a buddy to ride with you. The more the merrier and safer.

A first road trip of 250 miles is a great start. You'll have fun and learn a whole lot about riding. Take along the tidbits mentioned, watch out for the incredibly large number of fools out there in cages, and enjoy yourself.

Just enjoy yourself. The first time 250 miles sounds like an almost impossible ride in a day. Once you do it, 250 miles is just getting warmed up. Make sure your bike is in good repair with good tires and brakes. When travelling I carry all kinds of emergency stuff. Very rarely do I need it. Take your rainsuit for sure. Prepare for some temperature swing. Your bike should be reasonably comfy for a ride of this length. If you get tired, take a break. If you get bored, take a 2 lane that runs near the slab. That's more fun anyway. Be careful, relax and have fun.
I would be the old, slow guy. Just let me know where you are going and I'll try to get there before you leave.
