Any plans for sturgis

#1 Unread post by jjhotrods »

Been awhile hope everyone has been well. ANy members plan on riding up to the sturgis rally this year? Plan on attending myself. If anyone in illinois is heading up maybe we could meet up and get a little group together.[/url]

Dyin'? Boy, he can have this little life any time he wants to. Do ya hear that? Are ya hearin' it? Come on. You're welcome to it, ol' timer. Let me know you're up there. Come on. Love me, hate me, kill me, anything. Just let me know it.

To each their own. Thought it can't hurt asking however.

I have only heard rumor of Sturgis back in the day, that any sport bikers who would ride up there would get bottles thrown at them and sadly but surely, dangerously un-welcomed. In this day and age, I was told that Sturgis has really calmed down from what it used to be, but sport bikers are still laughed at and rejected.

It's a mad, mad, mad, mad world out there!!!! Not trying to start a flame war, just an interesting controversy in which I heard about.

That's what Americade is for. All types of bikes have been shown there (here, since I live in NY).

Sturgis

#6 Unread post by slimcolo »

Sturgis was a good run when it was smaller.

Actually what ruined Sturgis was OVER-COMERCIALIZATION (do we really need Ford,Dodge,Camel,Miller,John Deere,Newport,GM,New Holland,Rockstar energy drink ETC. at a bike rally),the disappearince of "bikers" and replacement by Posers (citizens on bikes), Price gouging (gasolene in Sturgis,Lead,Central City, andDeadwood was up 27 cents during rally while Rapid City and Belle Fouche didn't raise prices in 2005) And last but noy least OVERCROWDING.

Add to ,this extreme RUDENESS of law enforcement. When I asked where a pay phone was, Iwas told "We don't have to tell you" I was then pushed aside by the officers shoulder so they could walk 3 abreast down crowded sidewalk (Main Street).
I was later told by the Sturgis PD that they have no control over the RUDE officers as they were Feds (BATF)and the city had recieved other complaints about them. I would like to add that in almost 30yrs of attending rally I have NEVER been treated rudely by city, county or state law enforcement who do an excellent job.

The photos from past STURGIS's dont exactly ooze diversity (in bike styles and those attending).

Hundreds of the same bike. Boring. The funniest thing is a bunch of non-comfomest rebels who all look the same. Yeah, this is one even I'll likely never attend. I might like to go to the Dakotas when none of them are there though.
