20,800k too much?

#1 Unread post by SilentComposer »

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to buy a bike but am really low on funds. But then I saw this bike on craigslist and was wondering what you guys think. I know there isn't much info, but is it even worth it to take a train out to take a look at the bike?

$1500 for an 89 seems high to me, but I'm no expert. When i was ninja 250 shopping I found a lot of ninjas on craigslist that were ~$1500 and they were late 90's even early 2000's models.

The tough part of ninja 250 shopping on craigs list is actually getting the bike, they go quick :)

28,000k is like 28,000,000

I know what you mean, though. I too, think it's fine. In fact, that's good for a bike that age.

I also have found several newer 250s for about the same price. I bet if you keep looking you will find a newer one for about the same offer. In Denver, it's much more difficult to find an ex500, but then again i'm not sure about the San Diego area.

Yeah, I see what you mean. And I think the blue book base price for an 89 is like 500$

Does this one look a little better? Do you think it would be sane to ask for 1,800$ and possibly settle on 2,000$?

Kelly Blue Book's retail value will inform you of a general price that can assist you in your offer. I have met many a seller who tag their vehicles too high in price. Perhaps they assume a buyer will only offer a lower bid?
