How do I register for MSP

I am under 18 years of age.. do I have to use my dad's drivers lisense or something? I don't get this..

I know theres a way for me to get in.. but

Yes, 16- and 17-year-old riders must complete a six-month motorcycle skill building period, complete 50 hours of supervised riding and meet their eligibility date to receive a motorcycle license. Those not meeting these requirements will receive an MSF completion card only.

However..
If you are under 16 years of age, you are NOT eligible to register for a course.

Argh!! This is why you should be getting the support and help from your dad (or parents - whatever). First of all, it clearly states that you must be at least 16 years old to register for the MSF program, and that you must have a valid driver's license along with a motorcycle learner's permit. I read it there in black and white. Is there a way to do the motorcycle license without a car driver's license? I don't know - it says you need the driver's license, so you'd have to call up your department of motor vehicles and talk with someone there who can give you the straight information. Can you use your father's driver's license for any of this? NO! - you can't register for anything in life with your father's driver's license. It's not yours, thus it cannot be used for your personal purposes in life.

It's been a long time since I obtained my driver's license, but if I remember correctly, if you're under the age of 18, your parents must sign a document giving you permission to obtain a driver's license. My guess is that that would also include a motorcycle permit/license. I believe some parents even use a driver's license as a bargaining chip - "get good grades and we'll see about letting you get a driver's license". Also, I believe it's legal for parents to revoke a minor's driver's license for any reason. So you're probably going to have to get your dad on board with all of this or you'll need to wait until you're 18 to do it on your own.

I can fully understand your burning desire to get out on the road with a motorcycle - I had wanted to ride from a very early age myself. But it's painfully obvious that you still need to learn a lot about being on the road in general - and about taking care of these things as well. That's why the system is designed the way it is. You need guidance and support from a parent. Talk to your dad and see if he can help you out some. Otherwise you might have to do what so many of us in the world have had to do, and that's to wait a bit. Two years may seem like a lot to you now, but trust me - when you hit 40, two years will seem like a drop in the bucket.

Might be something with a parent or guardian might need to sign you up. Since one is not considered an adult until 18, you might need permission.

In addition to your parents, each state is different so any help here must be state specific. I can only assume your are in the U.S. and have no idea what state or territory.

Why is this surprising? The driver education program in every state teaches you about the rules of the road: Traffic laws and what signs mean. Seems simple, but there is a lot to it. To get a driver's license you must demonstrate that you know how to behave on the road, in a car.

OF COURSE, you need a valid drivers license to take the motorcycle safety course. The MSP only covers how to OPERATE a MOTORCYCLE, not any of the rules of the road stuff.

Take a chill pill, get your folks on board with the motorcycle thing, and quit whining.

Not sure about age req. But here you can take the MSF course on their bikes and upon completition take cert. to DMV anb by pass testing (written and riding) MSF is much more thorough than state. Contact ABATE in most states for class schedule and info.
