Yeah, it is pretty good stuff. Don't think you are supposed to use it on face shields though, if I remember correctly.dr_bar wrote:Okay, I won a pail full of cleaning/detailing supplies from a local radio station on Friday. In the pail was a Rainx product that you spray on your vehicle before you drive, it puts a protective coating on the vehicle so that bugs etc... just rinse off. Anybody heard of this stuff or ever used it? Does it work?
Bugs, bugs, oh glorious bugs.

Yes it makes polycarbonate helmets brittle and the outer shell fail, just like a lot of other solvents do. They used to make a version specifically for helmets, but Not seen it for a long long time

Dyin'? Boy, he can have this little life any time he wants to. Do ya hear that? Are ya hearin' it? Come on. You're welcome to it, ol' timer. Let me know you're up there. Come on. Love me, hate me, kill me, anything. Just let me know it.

I live in a rural farming area in Southern Illinois. During Spring and Summer, I literally cannot ride in the evening without a windshield due to the high concentration of bugs. The windshield is a great defense, especially at highway speed. It's something that you have to get used to, like marriage I guess.KingRobb wrote:those taste like rabbit.

Sorry for invading your forum since I'm still a nublet but I was honestly amazed at the sheer concentration of bugs I acquired on my face shield on the interstate... the INTERSTATE, not even on the back roads. Some times when I'm near the farms where I live it's like bug pinball. Last week I had a dead fly on my headlight trim ring, two in the middle of my face shield, another big splat from some miscellaneous bug and assorted peppering of other bugs. I had to stop and clean it so much it wasn't even funny.. I may spring for a windshield eventually due to that very reason.
Out in Chicagoland we have the cicada's. Those things are a nuissance at speed.
