Laconia, first timer...any experienced riders have advice?

Did you make it to the Americade in NY? That's supposedly one of the most diverse bike rally with very few trouble makers, if any.

One thing I was told if I wanted to go to Laconia, is that when riding through some of the roads on the way there just watch for on-coming traffic. There seems to be a problem with those on some of the winding roads from what I hear.

I know that cruiser riders treat sportbike riders differently around here. I feel this way cuz in the begginning I use to wave to everyone. So out of ...lets say 50 bikers I got 4 (yes FOUR) responses! 2 were from sportbike riders (the only 2 I saw) and the other 2 from leather clad Harley style bikes (All the other bikes that I waved to were cruisers) Kinda put me off and made me feel like a know nothing idiot, so I stopped waving all together, not unless they instigate it. Maybe Mass riders are just funny like that??

It's not just Mass riders, it's everywhere. Shorts and I wave or nod to everybody here in Japan. I'd say about 1 in 3 respond. Seems to be an even mix between sportbike riders and cruisers. Funny thing, I see a heck of a lot more HD here than metric cruisers. Last week while riding, Shorts and I saw a group of about 8 HD, including a trike and one with a sidecar, they were all really cool and waved. We also get folks come up to us while we're parked alot. They like my Ducati, since they're pretty rare here, and they are almost always fascinated with Shorts' modification to hers.

I had dinner last week with my counterparts at the JMSDF (Japanese Navy). We were talking about motorcycles, and I told one about Shorts' mods. He sat there for about five mintues, working his hand, trying to figure out exactly how it would work with throttle, brake and clutch on the same grip. He was impressed.
