I know I spoke to a cop some time back, and he refered to "unreasonable or excessive use of power" or some vague violation. It applies to bikes and cars. I guess the law can look at someone driving away very fast from a light, even to the speed limit, as being a potentially out of control situation - like the drag racer who crashed recently. Not saying that makes sense, but I think in some places there are such ordinances, and at it would be hard to know it as a legit law. Seems there are always some weird law available to kill a little fun.JC Viper wrote:No such law, and plus plenty of people from the ashat immigrant taxi driver to the rich b itch in the Suburban pulls out from a light quickly and have no such problems.flynrider wrote:Just out of curiosity, is there some kind of NY law that says how fast you're allowed to accelerate to the speed limit? In most states, as long as you're not pulling a wheelie or doing a burnout, there's nothing to keep you from accelerating as quickly as you want to. Personally, I always accelerate hard off a light, so I don't have to be mixing it up with the "pack".JC Viper wrote: The NYPD are cracking down on illegal bikers but it's not just the aggressive riders but people like me who accelerate to the speed limit in a short order.
I can't do any wheelies on my bike and I like my tires to last me so no burnouts.

Now thats just asking for his club to "accidentally fall" on your face.ofblong wrote:
I guess you could always say "Show me my skid marks if I took off too fast?" or "If I popped a wheelie I want to see the picture of it or the video of it just to make sure I truly did it".
Course I would prob be one of those dicks that would say something like "was it entertaining cause I dont remember doing it let alone feeling my bike do it".

Cell phones and driving don't mix, nor do eating and driving, reading and driving, doing something that takes concentration and driving, or ammonia and bleach. What's worse is when a cell phone driver gets mad for someone else making a legal/reasonable move and surprising the cell phone user because he/she wasn't paying attention to the road. People like that should make full use of the last of my list of things that don't mix.
Warning: Chemistry alert!
(For those of you who don't follow the moderate attempt at humor, household bleach which contains sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) mixed with ammonia (NH3) will produce mono and di chloromines NH2Cl and NH2Cl2 which decompose into ammonia gas, extremely hazardous, hydrochloric acid, and nascent... all of which can be potentially deadly)

Anyway cops that do pull bikers over are saying aggressive riders are more likely to be unlicensed or uninsured.JC Viper wrote:No such law, and plus plenty of people from the ashat immigrant taxi driver to the rich b itch in the Suburban pulls out from a light quickly and have no such problems.flynrider wrote:Just out of curiosity, is there some kind of NY law that says how fast you're allowed to accelerate to the speed limit? wow thats kinda flawed logic isnt it? I mean if I was unliscenced and/or uninsured I sure as hell would make sure to stay at or below the speed limit and do nothing illegal.JC Viper wrote:Anyway cops that do pull bikers over are saying aggressive riders are more likely to be unlicensed or uninsured.JC Viper wrote:No such law, and plus plenty of people from the ashat immigrant taxi driver to the rich b itch in the Suburban pulls out from a light quickly and have no such problems.flynrider wrote:Just out of curiosity, is there some kind of NY law that says how fast you're allowed to accelerate to the speed limit? Maybe she was that one you meet last Friday in the bar, the night you drank to muchmatthew5656 wrote:So i'm riding behind this lady through a construction zone which closed off every lane except for the very left. I surely was not following her too close nor was I riding aggressive in any manner. She was driving kind of slow through the work zone, which I understood and did not bother me, but as soon as the two right lanes opened back up, she got over to the right. Even if I were driving my car, her lane change to the right would lead me to assume that she was letting me pass. But once I picked up speed and started to pass her, she opened her window while on her cell phone and flipped me off as I was going past! I simply just looked at her and laughed, then sped up even more so I could keep a distance from her. If I had been driving my car, I would have done the exact same thing, so maybe she just hated us biker kind...? My bike isn't loud at all, so i'm sure she didn't hear my following while behind her, so her finger gestures sure caught me off guard, and i'm still confused to what caused her drastic agitation.
Some people out there seem so mad at life sometimes!

do you mean that when I'm driving my truck I don't own the road.
If you can't drive, talk on the phone, put on make up, eat a bagel, brush your teeth, and flip somebody off at the same time you've got no buisness driving.
at least thats the way it seems here in NJ.
the best part of being my own boss is that I don't have to commute and deal with that anymore.
I believe a paintball gun should be developed that spells O Ring on peoples cars with one shot.

I was just reading in a magazine that one state has been having a huge problem with this. Not only are they unlicensed and uninsured, but they don't even have a plate on the bike.ofblong wrote:wow thats kinda flawed logic isnt it?
