I wear one but to each his own. It's a very personal desicion as is whether to ride or not, wear gear or not, etc. I don't ride anywear without full gear.

Like Kal, I'm too damned ugly as it is to be kissing pavement in the advent of a spill....full face all the way, plus it has the added advantage of hiding my ugly mug so I don't scare the kiddies in the back seat of a cagermobile.

I'm interested in this helmet. Good for short hops or when the temps really climb. Seems like it protects better than those German helmets. Sure not DOT but if it's good against fragmentation and shrapnel then it should be all good. Plus it looks cool, goes well with the black cargo pants I always wear.

Full face for me. If you are going to wear protection you might as well go all the way. I know many say to each their own, but I just don’t understand why riders go without helmets. In Maine there is no helmet law and I’d guess that about one out of every ten bikers here wear. I personally don’t care if it’s the law or not… If I’m on a bike I strap on my head gear. There are a million ways to be a bad @ss biker, wearing a helmet doesn’t change that.

Err you may want to be a bit careful there, ballistics protection is designed to take low kinetic energy impacts at a point and redistribute the energy over a larger area. With a bike accident, where your head is hitting the tarmac, you have a large amount of Kinetic energy already spread over a large area, you now need protection that absorbs the energy

Just because its bulletproof, doesn't mean it'll save your "O Ring" in all uses

That is true but it seems better compared to the beanie helmets that some riders wear. I'm trying to find a DOT approved helmet that looks like that but it's not likely. I really hate those German style helmets.

Do you mean one of these German helmets? :D A guy at work wears something like this for cranium protection, but without the big spike.

The big spike would be great for impaling the drunk driver as you fly through his windshield.

That would be the only justification for buying this helmet because it doesn't do "poo poo" to save your life, may as well end someone elses.

Today I saw someone riding wearing a Viking helmet while also sporting a long and heavy beard with sunglasses.

Must've been a Grateful Dead fan.

Not all us Grateful Dead fans have long beards. Some of us just have handle bar mustaches.
:rocking:
A dog had his chain reduced one link at a time, every few days, until his chain was so short he could barely move. He never resisted because he was conditioned to the loss of his freedom slowly, over time. Are we in this country becoming like the dog?
