I'm with Lion Lady too. I'm too busy taking evasive action, to find the horn and get the offender to react instead. Although after the event, sometimes I'll give them a quick blast, so they notice me, and take more care

Hey, thanks for all the great advice everyone.

I was wondering if anyone uses their headlights when honking the horn. You know sounding the horn for attention and flashing the lights to let them know hows making the noise. Just thought it be a good idea. But hey im still a mega nooooob, i haven't even ridden a bike yet. But i cant wait to get back to the states so i can start.

Unless I'm using the turn signal, my thumb is always over the horn. (I frequently cover the horn in my car, too, if my "senses" tell me that someone is potentially trouble.)

Doing this has saved me from being "merged into" more times than I can count. Other situations, not so useful, but considering that all of my near-misses have been with people trying to come into my lane,... :dunno:

+1 on this...

I almost always ride with my thumb on the horn button, at least when I'm in any amount of traffic.

I ride with my thumb on the horn button when there is traffic around me.

When I had my Sportster I got an air horn.

My current bike (RT) has two horns and sounds like a full sized car. Scares the bejeezus out of people.
