Our German Shepherd has to be harnessed for rides in the car, I couldn't see him sitting in a sidecar without the harness. Too excitable. Our boxer/pit bull OTOH sits sedately on the passenger seat.Gummiente wrote:PetSmart sells a harness for dogs that clips into car seatbelts. It's very easy to adapt one for sidecar use.Sandibeach wrote:I don't know much about dogs on bikes or sidecars, but I do know that there are doggy seat belts available for cars.

I had complete confidence in my driver!Gummiente wrote:As does his Daddy, evidenced by when I took him for a ride in the Ural's sidecar not too long ago.jstark47 wrote:Our boxer/pit bull OTOH sits sedately on the passenger seat.![]()

Sorry Mike, I did mean to ask you about the reactions to your dog.
How did I manage get your posting name mixed up with Lisa's posting? Eyes of a "certain age," combined with bifocals occassionally lead me into embarrassing online mistakes.
It is great to hear the positive reactions to Hector's travels. I'll bet he loves it! I tend to keep quiet with most people about my intentions to create a biker dog, considering some folks' reactions when I started riding last fall. I'll have to check out your biker dog pics.

Don't get me started on bi-focals... just got my first pair of them last week and am still having trouble coming to terms with my own mortality.RavenDee wrote:Eyes of a "certain age," combined with bifocals occassionally lead me into embarrassing online mistakes.

Hector has approx 11,000km of sidecar duty and STILL does his "Happy Paws" dance whenever I ask him if he wants to go for a ride. As for other people's reactions to your intentions, I understand where you're coming from. I had a lot of that when I first started riding and for many years afterwards. Funny, though, how it all seemed to dry up once I gained 100lb, grew a beard, started wearing sunglasses all day and got my hair cut Mullet style.RavenDee wrote:It is great to hear the positive reactions to Hector's travels. It isn't WHAT you ride,
It's THAT you ride
