Riding with a dog?

PetSmart sells a harness for dogs that clips into car seatbelts. It's very easy to adapt one for sidecar use.

Our German Shepherd has to be harnessed for rides in the car, I couldn't see him sitting in a sidecar without the harness. Too excitable. Our boxer/pit bull OTOH sits sedately on the passenger seat.

As does his Daddy, evidenced by when I took him for a ride in the Ural's sidecar not too long ago.

Sorry Mike, I did mean to ask you about the reactions to your dog.

How did I manage get your posting name mixed up with Lisa's posting? Eyes of a "certain age," combined with bifocals occassionally lead me into embarrassing online mistakes.

It is great to hear the positive reactions to Hector's travels. I'll bet he loves it! I tend to keep quiet with most people about my intentions to create a biker dog, considering some folks' reactions when I started riding last fall. I'll have to check out your biker dog pics.

Don't get me started on bi-focals... just got my first pair of them last week and am still having trouble coming to terms with my own mortality.

Hector has approx 11,000km of sidecar duty and STILL does his "Happy Paws" dance whenever I ask him if he wants to go for a ride. As for other people's reactions to your intentions, I understand where you're coming from. I had a lot of that when I first started riding and for many years afterwards. Funny, though, how it all seemed to dry up once I gained 100lb, grew a beard, started wearing sunglasses all day and got my hair cut Mullet style.

I took these pictures on my way to Chicago last month...

I have a toy poodle, he will sit in my boyfriends shirt, and take short rides...then again he is 9lbs!

I saw a dog in a sidecar just hanging out at a bike night bar last week. Wish I wouldve gotten a pic!

When riding with a dog I just carry an extra full face helmet with a dark shield and make her wear it.......OR........A..........A...........Did you mean the four legged kind??
