Kawasaki Vulcan 900 solo saddle

#1 Unread post by Bumper »

So I went against the wishes of the forum and bought a brand spanking new Vulcan 900 last Friday. I've already put 400+ miles on it, and I've loved every second of riding it. It's not at all too heavy for me either. My question involves replacing the seat with a solo saddle. The stock seat is a one piece, designed for two riders. It come off by unlatching it with a key, so this is why I thought it would be difficult to replace the saddle. Does anyone know where I can buy a solo saddle that will fit an '07 Vulcan 900? Also, sidequestion, I want to slap a set of white-walls on my bike. I think they would really set it off. Where can I buy a set of these?

On seat try La Pera, Mustang, or Corbin. Might not YET be avail for an 07

Not sure of tyre size on 900 07 but 05 800 had 16s (they list 2 different rear widths) and are avialiable from several mfgs with white wall (Avon,Dunstop,Perilli, Metzler, and HDS Classic (Goodyear copies made by Chin Shin) just to name a few.)

Most of my customers buy the Avons, but because of price and appearance I sell a lot of Classics.

Many HDs use same size. White walls on rear tyre are often wasted money, as you can hardly see them. Any Custom shop that deals in Harley stuff will have them, or local shop can order.

Sorry I can't answer your question, but maybe you can help me. I am about to buy a bike (my first) and the 900 is high on my list. From what I read you are happy. Was this your first bike...if so, how has it been getting your feet wet on this bike? How tall are you...I'm 5'6. Anyway, I would love to hear more your feelings about the bike. I am debating between this and the Yamaha 650.

On a side note, noticed the one piece saddle, too. Really the only thing about the bike I didn't like. Congrats...they are great looking bikes!

^Sorry I didn't reply to this sooner, but I've been a bit busy riding. :) This was my first bike, and also the first motorcycle I've ever ridden (with the exception of a few dirtbikes). I'm 5'10, and I can handle this bike fairly easily. I really don't think there will be any issues for a 5'6 person on it. In my first week I put 800+ miles on it! It's just that much fun to ride. The fuel injection is great, no choking in the morning or any of that mess, just jump on and ride. The only real qualm I have with it (and it's not that big of a deal, honestly) is that when riding on the parkway at 70mph it vibrates a bit. It's not uncomfortable, but it's irritating. Parkway/interstate riding is never fun anyways though. When I was looking for this bike, I was also trying to decide between the 650 Vstar, 1100 Vstar, and a few Hondas. This one stood out more than any of them. If you can find one at a dealer, the candy caribbean blue is what I believe is the most beautiful color I've ever seen on a stock bike (of course thats the color I had to get). If it's your first bike, I suggest investing in having an engine guard installed before it ever leaves the shop, I did. I haven't dropped it yet, but it happens to everyone sooner or later. I think I'll be moving up to a bigger bike in a year or so, maybe a Mean Streak, or even the Vulcan 2000, but right now, I am completely happy with the Vulcan 900, and I'm sure you would be too, bud.
