Today I DROVE from my office in Richmond to my Bank in Port Coquitlam, fighting rush hour traffic in the drizzling rain for two hours. Got my passport and birth certificate out of my safety deposit box. Decided to stop at the Suzuki dealership next to the bank to check out their riding gear and sat on one of these....

I think I want one. :D

Today I went to physio, then to the library to get some movies. And then...since I was ordered to take it "really easy", I sat down with some tea and lunch and put on Austin Powers and painted my nails.
I didn't know whether to laugh or be embarrassed about Austin Powers.

I did my hair and put on some makeup and went to the pub to meet with my work friends for some kibitzing and refreshments and then went to shop a bit. And, no I am not showing pictures of these particular purchases.

Yesterday I went to Gail's Harley Davidson in Belton MO. I guess that every weekend they have a cookout, with a band, for customer appreciation. Cool place, there's a burn-out pit, and a washrack, and everything. Today they had factory demo rides. You had to show your licence, fill out some paperwork, and que up to get a ride.
First I rode a VRSCDX Night Rod Special. It was nice enough, but I don't care for the foot peg placement, It has good power and doesn't vibrate much once your up to speed. The instrument cluster left a bit to be desired, the speedo was large but the tach is a small sliver to the left that's hard to read. Idiot lights on the speedo face are hard to see. Other than that it's ok. Rode a 10 mile circle around the dealership on access roads, city streets, and rural highways.

Next I rode a XL 1200N Nightstar. This is the most vibrating bike I've ridden in 25 years. Every pulse made by the engine is passed through to the rider. This is a very pretty bike but I don't remember my 74 Sporty vibrating this much. A more upright seating position made handling better than the laid-back position of the Night Rod. The 1200cc Sportster engine pulled hard when opened up, which is kinda hard to do on these supervised rides. Speedo, idiot lamps, and attitude.
Image

My final ride was on a FXDB Dyna Street Bob. Nice seating position, great power, good handling, this is the big-twin experience I remember. Sportster style fenders, solo-seat, speedo and idiot lamp strip on the tank. I could see myself riding this bike, but could get a lot more bike for $14K.

Today I went to the swap meet out in Independence at the Twin Drive-In. I scored a couple Triumph 650 heads and rocker boxes for an upcoming project and a Sportster primary cover. This one still has the filter inspection cover. I wonder if slimko wants a chrome primary?

People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Very nice chickens...but where is the aforementioned floor? It looks like leaves and dirt in the pic.

F'ing Chickens.....There is one being kept at my hotel in Tacloban, Philippines that starts crowing its bloody head off an hour before dawn. I swear that sometime in the next week before I head home, I am gonna hunt that sucker down and ring its bloody neck......then roast the bugger for my breakfast.....

Yesterday went to rent a bike to do some touring in Leyete Province.....they brought out a Honda 155 TMX, cost 300 Peso a day plus fuel, call it $10 for the entire day.

Image

Took a look at the bike and it seemed okay, except....oh my the front tyre is so bald it looked like a racing slick......okay, thats the norm here, just be careful..hop on and test the controls.....lovely, clutch cable is so loose that it only engages the clutch on the last 1/4 of the pull....not good.....trying a test run, and....okay......next to zero front brakes and a tad bit better on the rear.....ride it back, thank the shop and run away fast as possible.......oh well, maybe next time.
Always ask why.

The floor would be in the hen house that is not in the picture. That is the "run" part where they can go outside.

Besides, I didn't want everybody seeing pictures of my home.......
