My bikes been out of commision for a few weeks now, the problem being carburetor floats that I can't get adjusted right, and very little time to work on the thing. Im dying to get it back on the road finally (just got it before the summer) and all the over-price bike shops around here have at least a 2 month wait. The random stalling and erract performance that has been haunting me for a while now is narrowed down to float problems in the carbs. After a good cleaning and a close check to make sure everything was in order in the float bowls, the problem remains, no matter what I do for trail-and-error for adjusting the floats. I even bought a new-er set of katana carbs and modifed my intake to fit, only to find out that the jet size and type was incorrect for my bike. I'm now back to trying to adjust the floats on the old carbs, but I can't find and literature or accurate advice on how to level these things. Here some pictures of the situation (Carbs sitting level, upside-down).... Any advice?
Mikunis, on a 93 katana 750
A shot of the jets and and the floats
Another view of them, all even and seeming to be "floating" in the middle, barely resting on the fuel plunger
On of the float assemblies, with the brass plunger in the middle
All of these plungers move freely and none seem stuck
Float sitting level upside down
I couldn't find much in a search about adjusting 4 carb floats like this. Any advice would be apprecaited, thanks for looking
