You might check in at VN750.com. There's tons of info including a list of what to check when buying a used VN750. Lots of good wrenches on that site too. They like questions like this!

I bought the Kawasaki with the slow oil leak and the running fan. Price could not be passed up.

Niterider, thanks very much for the tips. This leak seems a seep from the wires and very slow. The fan problem probably is a sensor. I'll have the shop check out the whole bike. Thanks again.
