no power

I have a 2004 Honda Shadow Aero 750. It is my first bike and have had it only a few months. I left it on the other day and the battery died. I charged the battery (trickle charger) and the battery is charged. I then checked the fuses and they checked out ok. The bike still has no power when I turn the key. Anybody have any idea what else I can check or what this might be.

No power to anything? No lights, etc... or just to the starter?

Anyways, it sounds like your charged battery (if it is charged and has no dead cells) isn't passing juice to the rest of the electrical system. I would start checking connections for corrosion and conductivity. I bet it's a bad connection on the power side or a bad ground.

If all the connections are good, then start checking for a bad solenoid or switch.

you sure the trickle charger charged it? I only ask because a trickle charger will not recognize a truly dead battery and thus will not charge it. I did this the other day left the key in the bike while I was putting down new flooring in my new bathroom that I just built (man does it feel good to build/add something to your house without paying the outrageous prices that contractors charge). I tried my trickle charger and it wouldnt recognize it so I had to get my 12v battery charger (not the same as a trickle charger because it will overcharge your battery) and hooked it up for about an hour and then bike started right up. Forklift batteries work the same way. If they become too dead the trickle charger wont recognize the battery so it wont charge it. However in that case we just hook two batteries together to "even the charge" so it will recognize it.

Anyway I agree with buzz if your battery is truly charged then its a loose wire somewhere or bad switch.
