Passenger falling off when taking off fast!

A friend and I heading out for a ride went to gas up at a station we go to all the time. I recognized a young teenage girl standing next to a V-Max at the pump as an employee of the station. "You Ride?" I asked, just then her dad walked out of the store, Ah!. Shortly after they took off we heard a scream, and when I looked I was shocked to see her hanging off the back of the bike. When her dad got onto the highway he gave it to much throtle and she was hanging onto the hand grabs at the rear of the bike. She fell backwards onto the fender and hung on for dear life, helmet inches from the road. The dad pulled over as quik as he could then when finally stopped she let go (plunk). After a couple minutes she got back on and off they went. This time her arms went around his waist, I'm sure his gonads just happened to be close by in case he tried that again! I wonder if they told mom? Smal town, I know who mom is, she'de slap the dad silly.

Moral of the story, Passengers Hang On!

thats got to suck. i dont see how anyone can hang on by the rear grab bars just doesnt seem like it would give any leverage to hold yourself on. my gf gets nervous when i take off fast and shes not totally ready. i try to only move when shes holding on but still if shes not ready her hands slip a bit, i feel her having to scoot back forward on the seat.

a buddy of mine had someone on his bike he warned the guy to Hold on. but the guy i guess didnt like the idea of wrapping his arms around another guy. so he just held the other guys shirt. off they went and of course the guy flew off the back, but he held on so he was dragging his feet superman'ing for a while.

This is true even with passengers you think you can trust. Back in high school I used to drive my sister to school every day. After years of riding on the back she knew how I rode and what to expect. One day I rounded a corner kicking down a gear and applying all the throttle I had. My sister learned that there are some good times not to be looking through your purse for stuff. I learned to be absolutely certain the passenger is hanging on. The following hear I took someone else for a ride - someone who had their arms wrapped firmly right around me.... she fell off. Unbelievable. Obviously responsibility is in my hands.

I have a couple of buddies who ran out for a case of beer on a TL1000.(they hadn't started drinking yet). They were both very experienced riders but when the throttle was rolled on, the passenger (with beer in hand) was caught off gaurd and off he went. The rider of the bike felt him go, didn't have time to respond, and looked in the mirrors to see his passenger do a flip on the road. He never spilt a beer
