Hit by a car (on my bike)

#1 Unread post by thume »

Got hit by a car on Friday. My first accident in 3 years or riding. But it's my first season riding here in Hungary. The cagers here are seriously nuts.

After the accident the guy tried to tell me it was my fault, so I told him that I had called my friends to help, they'd be there soon and he should get his insurance papers. He 'went to get his insurance papers' and took off. I didn't get any info from him at all. Jerk.

I dislocated my shoulder (it popped back in within a few mins), and some cuts and stuff. Had to spend the night in hospital due to possible chest contusion but am out now. My arm's out of commission for 2 weeks, pretty sore, and my bike's pretty trashed.

But thanks to my gear/full face helmet, I saved myself from a huge wrist gash, damaged elbow and half a raw face.

Could have been much worse. The guy I shared a room with was hit on his scooter by a car that ran a red light. He was in rough shape. I am fortunate considering the situation.

Get well soon. It sucks but, the bike and gear can be replaced. Hope you're back up and running again quickly!

if i am ever involved in a wreck with another car, the FIRST thing I do is write down their plate numbers, make model and color of the car - i always have a pen and pad on me. no talking or arguing, etc - i could care less what they have to say anyway - its right to the plate. i had someone take off on me once and without that info i had nothing.

Glad you're OK. Don't worry about the bike....my mama used to say; "Never cry for something that can't cry for you".
Insurance will repalce it. (smart woman, my mama)
I'm not young enough to know everything.

My mama said; "You need really good medical insurance." Thank goodness for that. It seems mamas are generally pretty smart. :)
