Today I took my 11-year-old son to his first funeral. It was for the 17-year-old brother of one of my son's good friends. The family is devastated, and it's been very difficult to explain this death to my son (a suicide). Hold your kids close, and let them know they are loved every moment of their lives.
Cheers,
Loonette

I am sorry to hear of your son's loss. You give great advice. My son gets an extra hug tonight even if he is almost 18!Loonette wrote:Today I took my 11-year-old son to his first funeral. Ok, tell me what I need to do here in order to get her to commit. More "Hector in the chair" pics? Another trip report? Or maybe... another ride?jstark47 wrote:So a few minutes ago I get an e-mail from Herself with this line: "How was the ride this morning? I think I’m getting serious about the Ural." I'm moving... currently in Gunnison, CO, leeching off a motel's wireless...
That's not even the worst part... lol
The motel I'm leeching off of is hosting a state patrol convention!
Should get to Phoenix tomorrow or early Friday...

- gas mileage. This means a lot to Mrs, it's why she keeps flirting with scooters
- dealership. The only dealership in NJ is this "motorcycle mall" mega-dealership near NYC. Mega-dealerships don't give me the warm and fuzzies. The nearest real dealership is a place that does Urals, sidecars, and Harley trike conversions, but they're 125 miles away.
- maintenance, etc. I remember when the cylinder head bolt got stripped on Douk. You took care of it yourself, but such things are way beyond my abilities or the time I have available. You fabricated a repositioned airbox for Douk- that's outta my league.

Ok. Not really seeing the problem here. Kick the lawnmower out and you should have enough room.jstark47 wrote:Being serious for a minute........ the potential hang ups seem to be:

Yes, but can a scooter carry 100lb of plants, two bags of fertilizer, dinner for six, a weekend's supply of beer AND a new patio umbrella in one trip? Sounds economical to me.jstark47 wrote:- gas mileage. This means a lot to Mrs, it's why she keeps flirting with scooters
Ural will honour all warranty claims submitted by any reputable motorcycle shop. You don't need to be a bike mechanic to own one. Plus, you'll have all the resources of the CURD collective at your disposal should you take the plunge into ownership. You'll never be alone.jstark47 wrote:- dealership. Keep in mind that Ural has come a long way in just two short years. Many of the problems I experienced on my '05 Tourist are now non-issues on the '07 lineup. Quality and reliability have increased dramatically in a very short time - several members of my CURD group ride '07 models and have reported very few incidents with their bikes.jstark47 wrote:- maintenance, etc. I remember when the cylinder head bolt got stripped on Douk. Give in to the Dark Side, Jon.

I went to the chiropractor. He said he sees some progress. yay!
Then I met dr_bar at the mall and had lunch with him.
Then I went to the hardware store and bought some tiling supplies...grout, caulk remover., etc.
I went to my friend's later for birhday cake...one of their kids turned 9.
Then I gave heck to someone for sending me a joke via email...a joke that I found offensive...
Then I packed up my camera gear to get ready for the weekend. Going on a photo outing to Merritt for the long weekend. I hope it will be sunny and cool.
Now I am tired from my excursions....
Tomorrow I will pack a bag to get ready for the weekend.

Today I reinstalled my front wheel, on the Concours, with a new Dunlop D205 and a new set of brake pads. Then I went and mowed the front half of the lawn, which I'll finish up with tomorrow.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.
