I wave...the first time it happened, I was riding on a residential street and saw a rider coming in the opposite direction. I had one of those "what do I do" moments and so at the last second, I lifted my hand, spread my fingers, and made what most possibly the goofiest wave I'd ever done in my life (on of off the bike). I didn't get on back and felt pretty stupid about that.
I've noticed that people generally keep waves low - either a flash of the fingers, or a movement of the arm. From what I've seen, waves are never above the handlebars; they're either out to the side or lower down.
I felt great when I saw a large group of riders in my town the other day - must have been a bike day or something. I waved at every group of cruisers I saw, tossed a few nods as well, and got quite a few back when they were able to give them. I felt like part of a community at that point, and it was honestly a pretty cool feeling.
Something in this post has been bugging me.

Your right fist? You sure about that? I guess you clutch in when you do so, huh? Seems a bit dangerous...
