worst conditions? Getting caught in rain so heavy i couldnt see more than 50 feet in front of me. Luckily there was no one else out on the road, and I was within a couple miles of a little town I could stop in and huddle under an awning to wait it out. I was soaked to the bone. I guess water proof means water resistant. Then again, it was the shitty rain that falls so fast it hurts. I couldnt top 15 mph in it.

A buddy of mine and I went down to Strokers a while back on a beautiful sunny day, but not 10 minutes after we left the sun was gone and we were under an overpass. He rides with a half helmet and couldn't take the heavy stinging rain. Snapped a couple of pics with his I phone while watching the weather report and waiting for a break.

I've found that all bikers get along, while under an overpass, waiting for the rain to stop.

You joke but that does sound like a great name for a biker bar. Wish I was in the process of starting one I would use that name!

dont give up man,...

buy you some good weather riding gear. i have a tourmaster riding jacket thats made of mess with body armor, zip out rain liner and cold weather liner, and ive been riding in near 30 degrees temps. the problem realy is the temp drops lower WHEN your riding.
...my legs get cold, do to i havent bought the tourmaster riding pants yet. i have no problems with the cold now, with my liners installed, pretty warm. i tend to start sweating when sitting in traffic though.

....oh yeah, and use a full face helmet, i use a beanie style, and beanie pullover under that, with goggles and riding face guard.(skull bandana)

This past Saturday was the 30th annual toy run here in Olympia, WA. It started to snow while we were in the staging area and kept snowing all the rest of the day. I had not ridden in the snow until that day, and it was sticking really well by the time I was heading home. Didn't have any problems though.

I've been on a few bad rides, but the one I remember best was in Southeastern Arizona. Three or four work buddies and I took off from Tucson to points southeast. It was a beautiful sunny warm day. We stopped for brunch in Sierra Vista, and then went on to Tombstone. The group wanted to go on to Bisbee but it began to look like rain and I said I was going to head home and save getting wet.

I got a few miles down the road and ran into a downpour. Much of the trip was on the interstate with 18 wheelers blowing past at high speed. It was nerve racking enough that I got off the interstate at an earlier exit only to find the road I had chosen to be blocked by a flooded wash; no way to get across at the spot. Back onto the interstate and a few more miles to my exit. By this time I am way past being soaked to the skin. Another twenty miles after the interstate and I was finally home; soaked and in a foul mood; of course not a drop of sympathy from the spousal unit, just a grin and wicked laugh.

Ironically, those who went on to Bisbee encountered no rain at all, not even on the way home. One lingering thought of the adventure is how quickly I became comfortable doing 60 and 65 mph in the downpour. Kind of reminds me of Steve McQueen's ride in "The Great Escape". That part was scary and sticks with me.
