Bugs, bugs, oh glorious bugs.
Many years ago I had a honey bee get trapped under my chin strap. It was hard to hold still long enuff to dig the stinger out. I still remember how much that hurt it is a tender spot.Jas0n wrote:Protien!!!
No really, I got bitten in the neck by a bee. The only part of my body that isnt covered is my neck area. Not only did it bite me, but it also hit me at 60+ assuming it was flying towards the bike . I had to pull over to make sure it wasn't shrapnel and my juggular wasn't slit.

LOTS, and LOTS of WAX! LOL! That's what my husband and I do almost every time we ride when it's lovebug season. Also they stink, stink stiiiiiiink! Yuck. When you wash them off, be prepared to smell a nasty odor. And when you ride, you'll want a helmet, and a windshield, or you'll get a nasty surprise on your face, and clothes. I wear a helmet, but this summer I stained 2 of my favorite shirts from those nasty little bugs. No amount of stain remover would take out the permanent stains left behind.DivideOverflow wrote:I wish that was the case. Florida has the joy known as "lovebugs". Terrible little creatures that fly around attached to each other. Every summer, they swarm up everywhere! The worst part? They are highly acidic. They take your paint off like acid rain. I have to wash every damn vehicle I have after I drive during the summer...Sev wrote:When it rains the bugs come back off
I have to make sure there is extra wax on bumpers and front fairings... On my full face, I actually sprayed cooking grease so I could just wipe off the damned things during my ride. The damn things stick like glue after they hit... they dry almost instantly, and the residue is a PITA to get off.
I hate them. HATE. Must... killl.... lovebugs..... Each pair makes another 500. So I make it my goal to kill as many as I can find.

I haven't but riding with my husband he hollered (we have CB's on our bikes), that a bird just hit his windshield. Good thing for that windshield other wise it would have been like that scene in the Wild Hogs movie where John Travolta had a bird hit him in the chest......!!erbgottie wrote:has anybody ever hit a bird?? because one flew right into my left arm riding the other night

I see at least one other person mention lovebugs. I had a very bad experience during lovebug season. I was riding around town and they weren't to bad, but as I made my way farther away from population, it actually became so bad as to be quite dangerous. They were literaly caked solid on my faceshield....I had to stop at a gas station 3 times in a half hour to chisel them off. Of course this happened right after I had cleaned my bike. Doesn't it always work like that?
Luck often favors the one who doesn't count it in their plans
Once when I was riding the backroads with no windshield and an open face helmet with aviator sunglasses, I had something hit me right square in the eye and it knocked the glasses all crooked on my face! Almost right off, there was no splatter so I have no idea what it was.
Another time on a very hot day I was cruisin around with my jacket half open, and after I got home discovered a very much alive yet stunned wasp inside around my armpit, very lucky not to have gotten stung. Poor lil guy, twas a smelly day that one. maybe the smell knocked him out...

I have nightmares about lovebugs. So many dried bugs... so much scrubbing. It was only a 30 minute ride....DivideOverflow wrote:I wish that was the case. Florida has the joy known as "lovebugs". answer to Bluebabe's question.
Sorry it took so long to answer Bluebabe, but with Christmas, and a lot of other things I have been WAY too busy lately.Bluebabe wrote:Hey, Motorcyclin Momma, I see that you also have the 2006 900 Vulcan Classic? How do you like it?
Got any pictures?
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my baby girl! It is the best bike. I get 57 miles to the gallon, and I have never had any problems with it. I am very glad I chose this bike. It is a perfect fit for me. I have no pics right now. I did, but my computer was completely erased right before Christmas, and I lost everything.
How do you like your bike? Has it been good for you?
Have a great night.
Amy
