Synthetic oils
Ok, I've heard different stuff from different people. I want to change my oil, and Have heard from a lot of different sources that Rotela T is the way to go. I know there are synthetic blends and "standard". I've also heard people say that it makes your clutch slip...I've also heard people say that those people are full of dookie...lol.. What say you?

It's the 'friction modifiers' in modern automotive oils that causes motorcycle clutches to slip. Rotella® T doesn't contain any.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

According to this oil analysis report, Rotella T includes "friction modifiers."Johnj wrote:It's the 'friction modifiers' in modern automotive oils that causes motorcycle clutches to slip. Rotella® T doesn't contain any.
I'd be honestly surprised if you can find any oil that doesn't contain some friction modifiers.
As usual, the dose makes the poison: too much friction modifier in the oil and it can cause wet clutches to slip. Too little and you will see accelerated engine wear.
