Honda 200es no spark

#1 Unread post by gamma1 »

Hi I'm new to this forum and need help!
My Honda 3 wheeler 200es has no spark, I turn on the Ign, and light comes on- crank the starter and it spins with plenty of power, but wont start. Took the plug out and earthed it to the engine, while cranking, but no spark. Put in new plug and the same result. So whats the next step to find the trouble.
Thanks Gerry

Time to start trouble-shooting the ignition system. With a multi tester and a service manual, you can test the coil, or have a shop do it, same with the CDI unit. But you can look for broken wires/bad connections in the pick-up wires and any wires leading to/from the CDI.
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

fist, start simple checks, don't run out and buy special tools or go to the shop! Do you have a good ground? Coil, could be a bad end that plugs on the plug or a broken high tension wire, replace the coil with a known good one just to check for spark, any 12 volt will work. look for burned, broken or bad wires. as a last resort, look at the cdi, these units are pricey. Could be a bad ignition switch too. I bypass parts, to find out the problem quick. I am not above hot wiring a bike to eliminate parts that could be bad.

Good luck
