I have to second this, besides the Goose has been on some pretty good courses and rides with me on her own boney's and rides well. No brainer for me as long as she doesn't make me dress funny or anything.-Holiday wrote:I'm a control freak and really dont like riding on the back of any motorcycle. that said, sure, i'd ride behind a woman driver. I'm secure in my manhood and don't really give a rats azz what anyone else might think.
In fact I'd rather ride behind a woman than a man.

I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

My guess is that this person might be a troll - viewtopic.php?t=26582&start=0&postdays= ... highlight=Marx wrote:I don't follow the logic behind those who make statments about 'security' in their 'maleness'. It's odd, do women go around (or rather, do men try shaming women into saying) about being 'secure in their feminity'? No.
It often comes across to me that guys and women who use such language are effectively trying to imply that people who do not follow their line of though must be 'insecure'. Why is a person 'insecure' just because they do not like something, or, shock - horror, don't think the same way as you?
Can someone answer this for me? Or am I to assume I'm right, it is nothing more than an attempt to shame others into towing a line?
ETA: As I said earlier, I am ok with riding pillion to a man or a woman, but it sure as heck has nothing whatsoever to do with being 'secure enough in my manliness'... it has to do with whether my trust in the driver is 'secure enough'. See the difference?

As I said above, I would definitely expect to be scared shytless riding pillion behind her ..... give her an opportunity on a silver platter to scare her husband, she's definitely gonna take it!dr_bar wrote:I know the real reason you won't ride pillion with your better half...jstark47 wrote: I still think it's better if the passenger (me) doesn't outweigh the rider (her) by 2-to-1.![]()
She rides faster than you and you're too scared... lol![]()

(Remember the Adirondack stretch... lol???)

But as far as riding speed goes, she's highly variable. She's been known to pass me and go zooming ahead, but just as often, I can't slow down enough to keep her in my rearview..... she sees something that catches her interest, she's gonna slow down and look. Definitely a lady of independence, she is.

The worst fright she ever gave me, I was leading on the Bonneville (slowest bike of the 3), her following on her Trophy. I was running curves aggressively (yes, I can and will when I know the road) and was expecting her to drop back a bit. But when I got to the end, waited several minutes, and she still didn't show.... one gets that sick-to-the-stomach feeling. I rode back down the road a couple of miles.... and here she comes, all nonchalant. "What happened, where the h*ll were you???!!!" A little bird apparently hit her helmet or windscreen, and she had to stop and search by the side of the road to see if the bird was alright. She never did find the bird, it probably just flew away!!

Yep. I've actually seen the same topic as this posted by the same name as a first post on another forum...Loonette wrote:My guess is that this person might be a troll - viewtopic.php?t=26582&start=0&postdays= ... highlight=

Why are you guys so insecure about riding pillion? I ride pillion (no not the bit{h pad. Calling it that shows no respect for your partner)) frequently. Sometimes it's nice for a change to look at the world go by.
What is it you are afraid of? That other guys might think you are a wuss?
I never have, but I have given my friends rides when they wanted or needed it.
One time 4 of my friends and I were at a party in college and their ride left and I was on my bike. I had an extra helmet, and their dorm was only a 5 minute ride, so I just shuttled them (2 guys 2 girls) one by one back to their dorm.
I don't see why everyone is so afraid.
I know I'm not gay, so it really never bothered me.
You should see guys over on the VTX forum talk about this...most cruiser forums as well... The instant its brought up its "gay this" and "gay that".

In the southern Thailand provinces of Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat, it is illegal to have two men on a motorcylce, since the guy 'riding shotgun' might actually be packing an AK-47.Venarius wrote: I don't see why everyone is so afraid.
And in Pakistan, pillion riding is banned entirely in some regions (at some times of year) for the same reason.
'Pillion' is derived from pillean (Gaelic: little rug) and itself from pellis (Latin: animal skin). Presumably hung, then tanned.
Common in Eastern countries is the pillion passenger riding side-saddle.
