THE BIKE
WELL. My tires still havnt come in. Im well into the wear bar on the back one.Not to mention it is scalloped because some dummy rode it for at least a week half flat, flatter, flatter.

O.K. tomorrow, Im going to see if I can cancel my order. Ill get to why in a minute.

Last time I posted I mentioned possibly wanting a harley.
Well, I have changed my mind.
Let me show you why.

Got it into my head what I want to do is adventure riding.
SO
I decided to get rid of the big Vulcan and get me a 1000 Strom, and get rid of the wifes Intruder and get her a 650 Strom.
The 650 isnt set in stone, because we might get her a dual sport and motard it. But Im definitely getting a Strom. I need something thats good on the street. Remember, my bike is my daily driver, so I need something that performs on the road, but can be taken off pavement to a certain extent.
So, though I dont know for sure WHEN this will happen, thats the plan. As long as I am comfortable on the Strom that is.
I will miss the big vulcan though. I just washed it this weekend, and IMO its a great looking bike. I promise Ill get a good pic of it and post it up before I gt rid of it.

What to do, what to do
My first motorcycle was a 1984 Honda Interceptor.


So, lately , as you all know, I have been struggling with my idea behind riding.

The big Vulcan is a great ride. but is that what riding is about?

Its heavy, which gives it a good ride.
But it is no fun in the corners.
Shouldnt part of riding be about riding fast?
Isnt that what is fun?

THAT looks fun.

So, for a fat man to have fun but still be practical. Ride fast and ride to work everyday.
That, I think is the quest.
How best to accomplish this.
Well, There is the V-Strom.
But what about these




Look you can even get bags for them



What to do, what to do.

That Yamaha in the picture looks mighty fine. Have you actually sat on any of the bikes to see if they fit you?

Lots of nice bikes there, but I wouldn't trade my Strom for any of them. I will agree with Blues, that FJR is a fine looking ride.

..... by the way, the big 'Strom turns in very VERY easily. It would surprise you how nimble it is. The Feejer is a nice bike and all, but it gives up almost 130 lbs to the DL1000. Even the Viffer is almost 100 lbs more. Just something to keep in mind if you're interested in flinging your ride through turns.....

I have specifically avoided doing that, 'cause I know it will make me irrationally dissatisified with my 'Strom, which is a perfectly decent bike that needs 10's of thousands more miles before I even think of trading it in.........
