Assuming your bike is very similar to my '04 Hornet, you should be able to replace the radiator mounting bracket bolt and sand/paint the bracket to repair those scratches. The other ones are a bit tougher to fix.

Hi FlipperFlipper wrote:I totally agree that it was my fault. That's why I'm so mad at myself.
I've had to emergency stop at even higher speeds and always squeezed down to a nice controlled stop. I practice that a lot and felt pretty confident in my skill.
Was I distracted? Did I misjudge the speed? I wish I could replay it in my head to analyze it, but it happened so fast and is just a blur.
What I remember most was that it was really loud.
Even when I was laying on the ground it was as if I wasn't really there.
Kind of like I was detached from myself.
My confidence is really shaken.
Thanks for the well wishes all.
Wrider, you made me laugh, thanks for that.

Sorry to hear your news. But very glad you are healing OK.
Being nervous after a crunch like that is a sign of good sense and an awareness of reality.
And because that's true, I'd say you can also treat the accident as a positive. Your confidence will come back, but the incident will probably leave you with a sharpened awareness of potential hazards and make you an even better and more careful rider than before.
Hey, look on the bright side, you will no longer feel left out when bikers are swapping crash stories.
Best wishes
Richard

Not to pile on, but it sounds like you may have become a little too comfortable riding and let your guard down a bit. I've ridden quite a bit and even I do that sometimes. Everytime you feel that you've got riding down pat that's the time to remind yourself NOT to think that way.
+1 on the advice to leave LOTS of extra room when follwing a van/SUV/truck or something that makes it so you can't see at least 6 or 7 cars ahead of you.
Having your confidence shaken is totally normal. Get back in the saddle when you can, get some miles in and your confidence will return.
Everybody ssrews up now and then - dont' kick yourself to hard over this. You've learned something without paying too high a price for the lesson.
Hope your healing goes well.

I'm fortunate in that I still have a little Rebel in the garage, and getting out on that made the first post-wreck ride a little less intimidating. Will someone be with you when you pick the bike up? It might be an easier ride if there's a car behind you keeping tailgaters off your backside, so you can go as slow as you need to.Flipper wrote: I expect to pick up my bike next week and.......ride it home?
I'm going to be a little nervous, but it's only about a 6 mile ride.
The shoulder x-ray made me cringe. Granted it could have been worse, but still...that's an OW...

Thumper,
I started on a Rebel and loved it. It was run over when parked it on the street just four months after I started riding. I traded up to the 599.
But I sure wish I still had my Rebel. Here is a picture of me a year and a half ago when I first got my Rebel.
You can almost see me shaking with fear.

And me on my 599 now.

I'm going to have my husband drive me down there and follow me home.
I'll be riding home on Lincoln Blvd in Marina del Rey which is always congested.
Not sure how I'm going to feel emotionaly.
Although there is always the possability that I won't want to ride straight home....

Hey! That's my Rebel!

I kept meaning to sell it, just never got around to it. It's still fun, but man, it feels like a toy now.
That 599 looks like a sweet ride; kind of reminds me of my SV, with the more upright position. I couldn't find one around here to save my life when I was looking for my next bike.
