A cruiser between 250-500cc

I'm looking for my first bike and would like to have a cruiser, but I've sat on Honda Rebels and other 250cc bikes and it just feels like I'm cramped. I'm 6'5" 170lbs. Is there anything between 250 and 500cc that would work good for a first bike that I could still go for a comfy cruise on? Thanks.

Look at any of the low-end cruisers.

Honda Shadow, Yamaha V-Star 650, Suzuki Boulevard, etc.

Kawasaki makes a 500 Vulcan cruiser. I don't know about the comfort for someone so tall though. You would have to go sit on one.

It would also be ok to start on a Yamaha 650 V-Star.

I agree with you that the Rebel is not comfy for tall folks.

I had an '86 Kawasaki 454LTD, which is the same bike as the Vulcan 500LTD. It was a great bike. I also have a Ninja 500-R, which has the same engine. Both bikes are/were tough and dependable.

If the Yamaha is the single cylinder for get it for anyone over 5'6. I have the Vulcan which is fine for people 5'10'' or less. The problem is not the bike power on any of the bikes mentioned but being 6' or more.

If you re-post with a description of how you intend to ride the bike most of the time, we can steer you in the correct direction. Review the seat height chart or guide here to determine if a bike will fit your inseam. If you want to use the bike for more than one hour at a time you really need t be sure it fits your inseam. Otherwise it will look like you've been riding a horse all day and you will not have any fun. This is true not matter what style bike you like.

Thanks for the replies! I'm looking for something to just go cruise on and possibly 2 hour long trips once I learn and get a lot of practice in. I looked at the seat heights, but I just don't know what would be good for me. I do know though that after about 30 mins or so of riding on a Rebel, it would get very uncomfortable. It just feels way too small. I really like the Vulcan 500LTD. I haven't got a chance to go sit on one yet but I definantly will. I'm curious to see how heavy it is. I'll also look at the seat height as well.

If theres no cruiser that will fit you, you might wanna try a dual sport-ish bike, like a Suzuki V-STROM 650. Or a DR-650SE, or DR-Z400S. Those are meant for the taller people. Look at other dual sports.

At 6'5" I have a hard time thinking you'd be comfortable on most smaller bikes. At 5'11" most smaller bikes were too small for me.

That being said, check out the Kawasaki 500LTD, Suzuki Savage 650 (aka Boulevard S40), Yamaha V-star 650, Suzuki Intruder 800 (aka Boulevard S50), Suzuki Volusia 800 (aka Boulevard C50), and the Kawasaki Vulcan 900.

I ended up with a V-star 650 Classic. However, even at 5'11" I'm considering extending the floorboards/controls to make it more comfortable.
