17, and I never rode dirt bikes, and don't really plan to either. I've tried a dual purpose and that was enough for me.

Got my 1984(I think thats the right year) Honda 50cc at age 7. By that time I had already been on my parents bikes to and from school a bunch of times. After I out grew the Honda I took a break until my dad bought 2 250cc and a 150cc dirt bikes for the family to ride together. I guess thats what started my itch. At 16 I started begging for a bike but got distracted by a firebird formula for my 17th birthday. I finally got my first street legal bike a little over 2months ago and already put 2k miles on it. :D

Always had the itch (I think) since I was about 17 and saw a GPz 750 Turbo....my younger brother got a 1992 Honda Shadow VLX while I was in Korea. I started saving for a Harley.....then came to my senses and bought a brand new 1993 Honda 750 Nighthawk when I was 25. Riding has come and gone as I've moved around in my career, but I've always had and will always at least OWN a bike (right now I own 2). Both bikes are no where near me right now (much to my chagrin), but I still call myself a rider.

I have been blessed. Both my mother and father use to participate in the gypsy tour stuff in New England in the 50's and 60's. I have been around them since forever. My favorite picture is one of me and my sister when I am 18 months old hugging the tire of a 1958 hydraglide at Laconia in 1958. There wasn't a dinosaur in site, they were just about extinct! back then.

I started on my mothers 125cc moto motorini when I was 14 or so.

I remember it like yesterday......

I work(ed) in a high-stress office.... costing big sale bidding type contracts, dealing with typical corporate politics, working 60 hours a week on salary, fixing computers, managing staff, yadda yadda yadda..... 10 years.

It was a hot summer day, everything was going to hell at work from every single angle imaginable. So when lunch time came, I said '"fudge" it', I'm going out.

Got some grub, was driving around for a bit, trying to avoid going back to work. Noticed I was a bit low on gas, so I swung into a nearby station to fill up.

Mind you, I live in south dakota, in a town right on the interstate. So, as I'm filling up, I see this big group of bikers rolling by... probably going to the rallys.

Picture perfect - Layed back, relaxed, 'cruising' in it's purest form.

"THAT'S what I need!!!"

Since then, I've changed jobs, tossed my cell phone out, and cut out all the computer time. This past year was the year of my first bike, and in that four-month window, I put on over 5k miles.

It's winter time now, and I'm dying to get back out!!!

What do you mean by "the itch"? I've loved bikes ever since I got an Evel Knievel action figure and bike when I was . . . dunno, 7? Only started riding at 36 though.

I was 14, my uncle was excited about his new bike and intoxicated enough to tell me where everything was and what to do. he let me take off around the block. it was amazing a honda shadow. now i am looking at a suzuki boulavard 650 single cylinder. looking back i could have really hurt my self but now i am so excited to take the classes and buy my first bike.
