=[ 08 ninja 250 recall

#1 Unread post by resage »

I received letter in mail from kawasaki that my 08 ninja 250r was recalled due to

"When the front fork is compressed, the brake hose may move forward and come in contact with the edge of the front fork" causing damage to break hose leaking out fluid.

Another, "An engine crankcase vent hole in the air cleaner case could be blocked by material left during the molding process. This could allow air pressure to build up in the engine and cause the cylinder head to cover gasket to be pushed out of place and leak oil."

Apparently its most of the 08 ninja 250s so I have to bring my bike into the shop and they have to replace some stuff and whatnot free of charge at least. And it happens to be that time for the 500 mile full service check.

That sucks. I hope your bike isn't out of action for long.

All the '08s. It involves replacing a small bracket, and then a small rubber plug. Should only be a couple minutes work to be honest.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Well, it's not really ALL of the 2008 Ninjas. The first ones that shipped to the US from the first production run had 3 different recalls. Kawasaki then recalled all of the ones from dealers that hadn't been sold yet and replaced them with models from a later production run that did not have those problems.
I have an '08 Ninja 250R that I bought several weeks ago and it has NONE of those recall issues. All 3 problems have been corrected on the production line in Thailand. Any Ninja now for sale at dealers is recall-free.
Anyone that bought one of the first 08' Ninjas can check their VIN on Kawasaki's website and find out if it is subject to recall.
