Passed my MSF course!!! Oh Yeah!!

Just complete my MSF training course this afternoon. Aced the written exam with 100%. Missed 4 on the road course because I was stupid.

Rolled off the throttle a bit while cornering, mainly because I didn't like the line I was taking, but other than that, aced the course as well.

Oh, yeah!!!

That's great. I don't get to take the course for another couple of weeks. I can't wait. I've got most of my gear together.

I passed my MSF course last year and the feeling is great! Have fun riding and be safe!

Yes, everyone passed. A couple just barely, but everyone got their card. I had a great time. A little frustrated the first day because the bike I was on (250 Rebel) was just enough different than mine that I was having trouble with second gear, but by the end of the day, was having a ball.

As far as tips, relax, listen to the advice of the instructors (they do know what they are talking about! Over the two days of course work, I had three instructors that had nearly 100 years of combined riding experience.) head up, eyes where you want to go. If you look at the cone, you will run over the cone. If you look at the line you are not supposed to cross, you will cross it. If you look where you want to go, you will go there. Simple concept, but took me much of the first day to drill this into my brain.

I also learned that they get really upset when you walk away from your bike and leave the ignition on. And finally, I learned that if you forget to turn the fuel on, a Rebel will make about two trips around the course before it dies. Most of all, relax and have fun.

My only complaint was that will a class of 10 students, and a limited amount of time to practice each exercise, there were times when I didn't feel that I got the practice time I wanted. That, and I would have liked to try some of the other bikes they had (a couple of dual-sport Kawasakis, a couple of Suzuki GZ250s, a Virago, and a 250 Nighthawk) I was on the Rebel both days.

Above all, show up ready to ride (had one guy show up in sneakers

This is pretty commonplace.

In my class we had 1 person I guess who was very nervous. So it seemed like they were taking forever on certain exercizes and being constantly corrected. Frustrating for everyone else.

Plus when we were doing counter-steering zig zag around cones everyone was going so slow! I kept pushing my bike faster and faster and nobody else would!

This is pretty commonplace.

In my class we had 1 person I guess who was very nervous. So it seemed like they were taking forever on certain exercizes and being constantly corrected. Frustrating for everyone else.

+1, and it seemed my luck was to always be right behind the person who never seemed to master the 'friction zone'

But overall had a great time, learned a lot. I would have been one of the people Brackstone would have been annoyed with the first time through the cones, but after a couple of times, had it down pretty well.

Now, off to get my 'M' on my license.

I had a slow on in front of me most of my second day too. It was horrible on the 3rd gear exercise. I was having to weave farther out of the turn just to keep it from bogging in each gear. She had to have been in a gear lower for each marker.

I found the tight no-feet down slow corners to be the hardest. And the U-turn. I was getting it, but I needed at least 3-4 more attempts than I got. Thankfully our instructor said the really tight slow speed stuff almost never occurs in real traffic, and when it does, putting your foot down isn't such a big deal.

Overall a great course that gets your confidence level up very high, very fast.
