Have him take another picture of it but this time have him include the front page of the local new paper, no phone on craigslist is recommended by craigslist, if it was there use your imagination as to what kind of phone calls you could get, the Ph is passed on thru e-mail, if he just had it inspected by a dealer he should have the paper work saying so and should be able to send or fax a copy of it, ask if the title is free and clear, if it isn't stay away, he doesn't have a title.

Go to your local DMV, and see if it has ever had a salvage title issued, or if it was recently re-issued a title from a state that does not issue salvage titles. Chances are, if it's a rebuild, it never got salvage title issued, but it's worth checking out just in case. Go look at it, get the vin off the frame, and ask where the bike was originally purchased, and where it has been serviced. Usually, a bike that nice at that price, if it's for real, has been rebuilt from a wreck.

Assuming it's a legit ad, at a price like $3k for an in-demand bike, he doesn't have to bend over backwards with such foolery to get the cash.

Paperwork for an inspection? I handed over six bucks cash and walked out of the store to find the sticker on my bike. I have no paperwork.

So far I have only gotten these 2 emails back and I have given him my phone number to reach me at but he seems to be avoiding... heres what the emails say..

Hi,

I'm currently out of town with work for a couple of days I hope that's not a problem. The bike has never been dropped or abused and I have a clear / clean title. Price I'm asking for the bike is $3,000.00 including shipping costs within the US if you're out-side the Craigslist state my post was made. I'd like the transaction to be completed ONLY through eBay Motors in order to seal a secure binding contract if you decide to buy the bike.

Let me know if you are seriously interested in purchasing the bike.

Thank you for your time,
Andrew

Hi,

The bike is at a DAS shipping company near Ohio. I took the bike to them to be able to ship it to a potential buyer whilst I'm out of town for a week. I also have the bike listed on eBay and that lets me use their secure payment system. I'm very busy with my job and I'm sorry I can't meet you in person. According to eBay you have 3 days from the time you receive the bike to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not. I've sent you an email from eBay, check out the item and after/if you complete the checkout process email me to confirm the purchase.

Agreed. Too good to be true. Probably a mess of a bike, used for stunting/laid down at high speed.

you will lose ya 3grand, and you wont see this bike.

Id bet my next months pay, no matter what happens, you will never be able to see this bike in the flesh ;)

having said that, have some fun with the guy, lead him on, get him drooling at the prospect of getting his hands on your hard earned, keep him dangling for as long as possible, then snap him off :)

act stoopid, tell him stuff like, "is it ok if i direct deposit half the money into your account to secure the bike while I wait 10 days for my cheque to clear, get as much info on him you can ;)

You can get ins thru E-Bay Motors but I don't think it would cover all the cost, you could just go there and look for your self, that's what i did when I bought a bike in Virginia and I live in Wash. St. but there was quite a bit more money involved, as it turned out everything was on the up and up, it's your decision, it could go either way but at least you would know for sure and if it did work out you got a good deal, Ohio isn't that far away from you.
