Arrrrgh, stripped a thread

Basically I stripped the thread marked with a red arrow below

So now, I can't tighten my left mirror stalk and it flops around dangerously. Loctite and teflon tape haven't worked. I could always order a new part, but in the meantime, would you recco some sort of metal-to-metal glue?

an epoxy or jb weld might hold, but good luck getting it off. is it too far gone to rethread it?

I read today a suggestion of using a couple of zip-ties in the hole to help with the grip. Just a thought.
