I just bought a pair of denim chaps from zone tailed. They have kevlar patches in the knees. They aren't the most attractive things, but sitting on the bike they look like jeans, and when I get to my destination I just zip them off. So far, I'm pretty happy with them.

Or, does anyone make some type of armor or knee pads that fit under your jeans and arent too awkward to wear not on the bike?

Icon makes a produce called Field Armor Leg. Link here http://www.newenough.com/armor_icon_fie ... g_page.htm

I think they are meant to be work under pants.

Other than that, chaps.
I have purchased all my jeans from Wal-Mart (Wranglers) save for one...a pair of Levis I bought at the mall. They (the Levis) ended up having a missing belt loop in the back and I couldn't stand to wear them. The Wranglers are every bit as good looking, and fit me to a tee. And they only cost $16.00 a pair, not $30-$40 like Levis.

I'm not knockin' Levis, I'm sure I just bought a fluke pair. But don't knock Wally World, either. Try on a pair of Wrangler Relaxed Fit next time you're in there. You might be surprised.
Not a knock on the wally mart, I get a lot of stuf there. I even put their brand oil in my bike. :) I was just remembering a week long peice on NPR about the controversy of wal-marts. How they drive out small business, communities starting to fight them moving in, etc. During the piece where they were talking to vendors and suppliers, they had that story about Levi's. Since then I've been wary of buying jeans there.

Now there are reasons to not like wal-mart but low prices isn't one of them.

Icon recon jeans. Thay have venting and Kevlar belts in the knees. Very heavy (14 ounce) denim, and very comfortable . They run small so order the next size up. They look like regular jeans in the black, give or take a close look at the venting. In the blue it's more obvious what they are, as the vent panels are black.
Ride safe...God bless!

Joe Rocket Alter Ego overpants, with either jeans or shorts underneath.
If need be, I can put them in my saddlebags or lock them to my bike.

I wear leather chaps, but they're really easy to take off and put on, so when I go to the mall or whatever I just put them in my backpack. If you have saddlebags you could leave them in there.
